James Pattinson bowled a world-class spell against Queensland, says John Hastings ? Cricket News Update
John Hastings, the Victoria fast bowler, is all praise for his teammate, James Pattinson, and said that the right-arm fast speedster bowled an unbelievable spell in their last first-class match against Queensland at Brisbane.
The 22-year-old cricketer came through the ranks of junior cricket in the country, having represented Australia Under-19 on a number of tours. After some impressive performances in first-class cricket, Pattinson made his way to international cricket last year. The right-arm pacer played an important role in Australia?s 4-0 whitewash against India at home.
The Australian selectors however, have been very careful in using the rookie, rotating him along with other young fast bowlers like Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins.
Both, Hastings and Pattinson, are currently representing Victoria in Sheffield Shield cricket. The fast bowling pair helped their side beat Queensland earlier this month by 10 wickets, picking up 14 victims in the match between themselves.
Hastings believes that he and Pattinson complement each other quite nicely. The lanky seamer expressed that Pattinson is great at putting the batsmen under pressure at the other end.
The 26-year-old speedster is of the opinion that Pattinson bowled an amazing spell in the second innings, picking up six wickets to break the back of the home team?s batting.
?I come on and I'm not as fast as the other guys, I think the batsmen think they can get after me and they just nick one to the keeper or something,? Hastings said. ?For me to bowl at the other end to James Pattinson is just fantastic. He creates all the pressure. That spell at the Gabba was absolutely world-class, on a pretty flat third-day Gabba wicket, he extracted bounce and a bit of movement.?
Hastings, who injured his shoulder last year after the tour of Sri Lanka, revealed that he is completely fit and focusing on making an international return.
"Everything is going really well at the moment. It's probably the best my body has felt for four or five years,? he added.
The New South Welshmen has already played 11 One Day Internationals and three T20s for the Kangaroos.
