N.J. Politics Roundup: Christie backs Rutgers president; Buono blasts governor on economy

TRENTON ? Gov. Chris Christie on Tuesday stood by Rutgers President Robert Barchi, who is under fire for holding paid positions on two corporate boards that do business with the state university.

Meanwhile, Christie said he still has no opinion on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision striking down the core of the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

Both comments came as Christie announced the federal government has approved 129 applicants from Sayreville whose houses were damaged by flood waters ? the first batch of home buyouts after Hurricane Sandy.
